Lucy Adair
Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of International Studies
"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time interning at ITPC. Working with fellow UTS interns, the ITPC staff, Indonesian exhibitors, industry speakers, and most importantly, the program director, Kestity, has allowed me to gain fundamental insight into sustainability practices, international trade, and applying marketing concepts. Particularly, participating in industry talks (for instance, receiving a lecture from the Rainforest Alliance) provided me with a deeper awareness of global sustainability efforts and how they intersect with trade and business development. A highlight of this internship was working at the ICC supporting exhibitors at the Fine Food Fair Exhibition. Being given the opportunity to work directly with Indonesian producers not only enhanced my understanding of international business operations but also allowed me to apply my communication and marketing skills in a real world setting."

Maymounah Awad

"My time at ITPC has been critical to furthering my interpersonal skills, enhancing my writing and communication skills, and developing my competency in a space that relied on intercultural communication. Working together with fellow interns at the ITPC on various projects has enabled me to become a better communicator and team player. This has been a rewarding experience, where I was able to see how sustainability can be a core aspect of so many different types of businesses and yet all have the same pioneering goal of taking better care of the environment. This internship has broadened my perspective on the world of work and the vastness of opportunities offered due to my double degree."

Adrian Cho

"ITPC has given me an amazing opportunity in allowing me to utilise the professional skills I learned from my International Studies degree. I was provided with beneficial insights from every part of Indonesian import product supply chain through company visits and meetings, as well as the chance to personally help out those businesses during the fine food fair which I would not have had the opportunity otherwise. Overall, this internship has proven to strengthen my knowledge of not only Indonesian culture but also the culture of the world of work as I get to interact with ITPC staff as well as my fellow interns during the program."

Maryanne Constantine
Bachelor of Communication (Journalism) and Bachelor of International Studies
"This internship has afforded me the opportunity to grow my understanding of Indonesian culture, while also providing me with the understanding of how different international industries enter the Australian market. I attended many industry talks, both virtually and in person, which enlightened me to the efforts taken by these businesses to educate us, and I found all of them very beneficial to not only my International studies degrees but also my main degree of communications. At the Fine Food Fair 2025, we were completely immersed in the B2B experience, having met industry professionals not only from Indonesia but other nations and businesses, understanding the lengthy processes of bringing something as simple as a snack from its raw ingredients to the supermarket shelves in a matter of months. Over the course of those four days, I was fortunate enough to sample new and upcoming foods, while also attending industry talks specific - or extremely close - to my main area of study."

Ashley Gilchrist

Exploring the Fine Food Fair highlighted the growing consumer demand for eco-friendly packaging, which was inspiring to see firsthand. Another highlight of the internship was our discussion with the Rainforest Alliance, where we learned about certification and auditing processes. I’m especially grateful to Ibu Kesty for providing diverse learning opportunities and guidance throughout this internship."

“This internship has been an amazing, enriching experience. As a Visual Communication student, this was one of my first professional encounters with trade and foreign agencies. It has been eye-opening to witness the relationships, processes and thinking that goes on before a product reaches the Australian market. I have appreciated the ability to combine my interest in design with ISDH activities, through capturing images and videos of the program, formatting our product analysis report and assisting with updating the isustainable.org website. I have thoroughly enjoyed connecting with the other interns, too, most of which I may never have met otherwise as we all study different degrees. I’ve made some really strong friendships here that have made my experience all the more enjoyable. I cannot recommend this internship to future cohorts enough!”

Rood Rashid

"I have done office work at ITPC where I worked to assist Sony Trading PTY LTD businesses in Fine Food Fair 2025 and made a product analysis report for their new product. My final task at ITPC was to make market report in a group where I worked on Policy and Trade Agreements relevant to Indonesia-Australia trade. There is a limit on how much theory one can learn as an outsider, verses when you are within the topic you are learning. This experience allowed me to put theory into practice, especially in understanding how sustainability concepts are applied in international trade from a government perspective. I was able to challenge myself, explore personal skills and gained confidence in my abilities. This internship has been a significant step in my professional journey and will undoubtedly influence my future career in the sustainability sector."

I supported the Fine Food Fair, meeting passionate Indonesian businesses and helping connect them with interested Australian buyers. Diving into my product analysis, I researched Australian food regulations, studied flavour trends, and saw how cultural resonance and familiarity shape market appeal. My product story on Garuda Metalindo allowed me to explore their trade networks, innovation, and sustainability ambitions, and how those could link with Australia’s mining sector. Each project sharpened my analytical and storytelling skills, blending my scientific background with real-world commerce. The experience opened my eyes to the dynamic interplay of creativity, culture, and business and revealed new pathways in a career where science and global trade can intersect."
